How are video clips counted?
·3 min read
A default 5-second clip is 215 credits. It comes out of the same balance as photos; ten seconds is 430, and 1080p is 380 for 5 seconds. Other video models have their own prices, printed on the generate button. GESTEL's video does not invent a scene — it animates a cutout or a styled shot you already have: the product turning slowly, light moving across it, the camera pushing in. Five seconds is the unit because that is what product-page slots and social feeds use.
The counting
| What you make | Credits |
|---|---|
| A default 5-second clip (Grok Video 1.5, 720p) | 215 |
| The same model, 10 seconds | 430 |
| The same model, 1080p, 5 seconds | 380 |
| Other video models | per model |
Video is priced by length and resolution. A clip has a whole number of credits per second, so 10 seconds is exactly twice 5. Every model's price is in What spends credits, and how many?.
Clips come out of the same balance as photos, which is why no plan lists “N clips” on its own: a month heavy on photos leaves less for video, and clips made first leave fewer photos. Video starts on the paid plans.
What kind of video
One of your product shots is the starting point. That shot moves.
- A turning product — the most common thing to put at the top of a product page.
- Moving light — the product holds still and the light travels. Good for texture.
- A camera push-in — from the whole product into a detail.
- A loop — the start and end match, so it can run continuously without a visible cut. Made on a model that supports looping.
How many at a time
Video comes one or two at a time, not five at once like photos.
That is deliberate. One clip is worth more than ten default photos, so “here are eight, pick one” is a way to burn credits. The shoot plan says how many, so you can check before going ahead.
Making one
- Select the shot you want to animate.
- Say “make a video from this”, or choose video generation on the node.
- You get a plan of how it will move. Confirm and it runs.
Expect one to three minutes. Longer than a photo is normal.
Using it
- Download the mp4 and upload it wherever it goes.
- Slots that autoplay usually play muted. Even a clip with an audio track will mostly play silent.
- For a list thumbnail, use the first frame.
